The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has begun recruiting and training ad-hoc staff for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, the electoral umpire said the recruitment notice and the website being circulated were not authorised by the commission.
“The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to a message circulating online claiming that the Commission is currently recruiting and training ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election,” the statement said.
The notice directs prospective applicants to an online platform for the purported recruitment.
“THIS INFORMATION IS NOT FROM INEC,” stressing that the website being circulated was “NOT an official INEC recruitment portal,” the post read.
The commission urged members of the public not to interact with the platform or provide any personal information through it.
INEC said it would communicate legitimate recruitment exercises and other election-related announcements through its verified channels and official website.
The commission advised Nigerians seeking information on its activities to rely on its official communication channels and website.
INEC also noted that it had previously warned the public about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements falsely claiming affiliation with the commission.
The commission further urged members of the public to disregard the latest notice and avoid sharing it further.
