Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has scored twice to help Galatasaray defeat rivals Fenerbahce 2-1 in a Turkish football derby at Rams Park.
The Nigerian striker on Monday opened the scoring in the 29th minute. He finished a move set up by Baris Alper Yilmaz to put the hosts ahead. Osimhen doubled Galatasaray’s advantage in the 44th minute. He converted another chance following an assist from Davinson Sanchez, sending his side into half-time with a 2-0 lead.
However, Fenerbahce fought back in the second half. Irfan Can Kahveci scored in the 62nd minute after receiving a pass from Oguz Aydin, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
Galatasaray made several substitutions as the match progressed. Rafael Leao came on for Yilmaz in the 64th minute, while Wilfried Singo replaced Osimhen in the 88th minute. Leao received a yellow card in the 89th minute. Fenerbahce defender Archie Brown also received a yellow card in the 90th minute.
Despite Fenerbahce’s late efforts, Galatasaray held on to secure the 2-1 victory.
Osimhen’s brace further highlighted his importance to Galatasaray’s attack. The Nigerian international scored 37 goals in all competitions during the 2024/25 season. He joined Galatasaray permanently from Napoli in 2025 after a successful loan spell, strengthening his place in the Turkish club’s attack.
The victory adds another chapter to the rivalry between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, two of Turkey’s biggest football clubs.
