Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes questioned manager Michael Carrick’s tactics on Wednesday, following a humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat against Italian side Como.
The loss extended United’s winless streak to seven matches after the team conceded a second-minute opener to Nico Paz and failed to mount a convincing comeback.
Addressing the team’s passive performance, Fernandes highlighted United’s lack of defensive intensity and movement on the ball.
“Sometimes you have to be more brave under pressure; take the risk of pressing high and making them uncomfortable,” Fernandes stated.
“Conceding early makes us go into the game with a mood of defeat. It’s difficult to get out of that, trying to be brave, to have the ball and make something happen.”

The defeat marks another turbulent chapter for Carrick, as Fernandes becomes the latest senior player to publicly express frustration.
Midfielder Youri Tielemans echoed the captain’s concerns, admitting Como completely outplayed United in every department.
Only a late stoppage-time consolation goal from Joshua Zirkzee saved United from recording their worst-ever defeat in Champions League history.
