Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has paid a courtesy visit to former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, following the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)’s presidential screening ahead of the 2027 election.

Kwankwaso, in a post shared on X on Wednesday, disclosed the details of the meeting, which was held at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

The former governor described Obi as his brother and expressed optimism about the NDC’s prospects in the 2027 election.

“Last night, I received a courtesy visit from my brother, His Excellency Peter Obi, shortly after his successful screening as the presidential aspirant of our party, the NDC. The future is bright and full of promise,” Kwankwaso wrote.

Obi defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC alongside Kwankwaso in May 2026, citing internal party crises and legal tussles.

The NDC screening committee cleared Obi unopposed after he reportedly purchased the party’s presidential nomination form, making him the sole presidential aspirant.

The duo, who contested the 2023 presidential election under different political parties, reunited in 2026 to unseat President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Political analysts have described their collaboration as a significant political realignment.
