Oyedele Replaces Edun in Tinubu’s Cabinet Reshuffle

President Tinubu nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a minor cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, with Wale Edun, who previously held the role of Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, being directed to hand over to Mr Taiwo Oyedele, who is elevated from his position as Minister of State within the ministry.

According to a memo signed by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Oyedele’s appointment as the new Finance Minister reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and improving Nigeria’s economic outlook under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Similarly, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa is leaving the cabinet, with his responsibilities now handed over to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr Muttaqha Rabe Darma.

According to the statement, these adjustments are intended to enhance the cohesion and effectiveness of the governance team, ensuring a more impactful and coordinated approach to policy implementation.

The memo further outlined that all handover and takeover procedures should be completed by Thursday, April 23, 2026, a directive that highlights the urgency and smooth transition expected within the administration.

The statement stressed that these changes align with the President’s vision for improved governance and the successful delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to achieve tangible outcomes for Nigerians.

President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the outgoing ministers for their dedicated service and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Tinubu assured all cabinet members that “the process of reinvigoration shall be continuous.”
