The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped woman and arrested 11 suspected armed robbers in separate operations across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital, on Friday.
Nansel said police operatives, working with local hunters and community youths, rescued Favour Innocent, a resident of Ajyga Village, from Nunku Forest in Akwanga Local Government Area.
He said the woman was abducted from her residence at about 9 pm on August 3 and rescued at about 8 am the following day.
Following her rescue, the victim was taken to the Primary Health Centre in Andaha, where she received medical treatment and was discharged in good condition before being reunited with her family.
The police spokesperson said efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspects who fled the scene.
In a separate operation, Nansel said 11 suspects, including two minors, were arrested after armed robbers invaded a guest house in Area One, Masaka, at about 2 am on September 4.
According to him, the robbers stole valuables, including mobile phones and cash, from guests before fleeing when a police patrol team arrived at the scene on the orders of the Commissioner of Police.
He said the officers pursued the suspects to their hideout, where nine adults and two minors were arrested.
The adult suspects are Auwal Yunusa, 20; Saltsu Kabiru, 20; Umar Saleh, 22; Abubakar Hassan, 26; Musa Yahaya, 20; Seth Aaron, 20; Victor Hyelanpali, 19; Gift Ezra, 20; and Suleiman Abdullahi, 18.
The two minors are James Ayuba, 16, and Fahad Abubakar, 15.
Police said a locally fabricated revolver, four cutlasses, another fabricated cutlass, two knives, two bedsheets, eight SIM cards, three head warmer caps and two scissors were recovered from the suspects.
Other items recovered included counterfeit foreign currencies and original documents belonging to a man identified as Kabiru Abubakar.
Nansel said the command was intensifying efforts to apprehend other suspects who escaped and recover the remaining stolen property.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, had directed the Divisional Police Officer of Masaka Division to locate the parents of the two minors or have them brought before the appropriate Juvenile Court in accordance with the law.
The adult suspects, he said, had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation and prosecution.
The commissioner commended the police personnel, local hunters and community youths for their cooperation, particularly in the rescue of the kidnapped woman.
He also assured residents that the command would continue to strengthen intelligence-led operations and partnerships with communities to tackle crime across Nasarawa.
The police urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to assist in preventing crime, rescuing victims and arresting suspects.
