Russian President Vladimir Putin met visiting Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui on Sunday, highly praising North Korea’s ongoing military support for Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

In a video released by the Kremlin, Putin expressed deep gratitude for Pyongyang’s assistance and vowed that Russia will honour the actions of North Korean soldiers exactly like its own compatriots.

Putin also lauded the robust mutual understanding that he has established with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The high-level meeting, initiated by an invitation from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, underscores the rapidly accelerating strategic partnership between the two nations since the 2022 invasion.

North Korea has deployed troops to Russia’s Kursk region and supplied critical weapons systems to reinforce Moscow’s frontlines.

In return for this vital assistance, analysts note that Pyongyang receives robust financial aid, food, energy supplies, and advanced military technology.

The meeting cements pledges from late April, when Kim promised to help Moscow secure victory.
