Gunmen have killed Kehinde Jacob Faledon, the traditional ruler of the Agamo community in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, following a violent invasion of his palace on Wednesday night.
The gunmen reportedly stormed the monarch’s residence and forcibly took him away.
Minutes later, Faledon was found with gunshot wounds near his home and was confirmed dead at the scene.
Ondo Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi said the community quickly alerted security forces after the attack.

“Information reached the division at about 7:50pm from a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu, that about six armed men stormed the residence of the monarch and forcibly took him away,” Abayomi said.
He added that the divisional police officer, supported by tactical teams and local security outfits including hunters, Atuluse Security, and Amotekun operatives, “are combing the surrounding bushes and neighbouring communities. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
Abayomi noted that monitoring activities have been strengthened to protect residents and prevent a breakdown of law and order in the area.
The police have launched a full investigation as the community mourns the loss of its ruler.
