Six people have died in a road accident along the Yola-Girei Road in Adamawa State.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje said a preliminary report showed that the six victims were rushed to a hospital after the crash, where they were confirmed dead.

He said police personnel from Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were deployed to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore traffic flow.

“Police operatives from Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were immediately mobilised to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore the normal flow of traffic,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, has commiserated with the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.

Hassan also appealed for calm and urged motorists to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations and avoid speeding to prevent further loss of lives.

The crash is reportedly the fourth recorded on the Yola-Girei Road in less than a month, with more than 10 people killed in the incidents.
