Defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the US Open fourth round with decisive straight-set victories on Friday.
Alcaraz defeated China’s Wu Yibing 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 to set up a last-16 clash with American Tommy Paul.
Top-seeded Sabalenka fired 29 winners and 10 aces to eliminate Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3, 6-4, securing a matchup against Taylor Townsend.
In other singles action, Americans Jessica Pegula, Frances Tiafoe, Emma Navarro, and Ben Shelton earned victories, while Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev also progressed.
The evening session featured a dramatic return for tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams, who reunited for their first Grand Slam doubles appearance since 2022.
