The political campaign of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, in Benue State, was reportedly disrupted on Tuesday after suspected thugs allegedly blocked access routes to prevent the 2027 presidential hopeful from entering the state.
The roadblock may have disrupted Peter Obi’s movement into Benue State, but the 2027 presidential hopeful says it will not stop his nationwide political engagements.
Obi disclosed this during a live interview with News Central TV after suspected political thugs reportedly blocked Boko Road near the Air Force Base in Benue State, allegedly preventing him from gaining access into the state.

Esther Umoh, Obi’s official photographer and documentarian, first reported the incident, saying the road was blocked during his ongoing political campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reports have linked the alleged obstruction to suspected All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, although the claim has not been independently verified. Supporters of Obi have also accused Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia of involvement in the incident, a claim that remains unsubstantiated.
Despite the development, Obi said the incident would not deter him from continuing his political engagements and taking his campaign message across the country.
