Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has said the newly completed 13-kilometre Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji Road will improve farming, ease transportation, and bring more development to rural communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Akpabio spoke on Tuesday during the inauguration of the road as part of the ongoing FCT infrastructure commissioning programme.
Describing the project as a reflection of President Bola Tinubu‘s Renewed Hope Agenda, he said development should not be limited to city centres.
“Abuja cannot be a city of two worlds with gleaming district lights but forgotten satellite towns. This road rejects that divide,” he said.

According to him, the road will connect communities to markets, schools, hospitals and other opportunities while improving access for residents.
He noted that poor roads had for years slowed economic growth in rural communities, with farmers struggling to transport their produce.
“Farmers can move produce faster now. Buyers can also reach their farms without delay, and post-harvest losses will be minimised,” Akpabio said.
He added that the project would help Kwali become a major food-producing hub for the FCT and surrounding areas.

The Senate President also praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his team for the pace of infrastructure development across the territory.
He noted that the road inauguration marked the 15th day of the 31-day FCT project commissioning exercise and commended the administration for extending development to satellite communities.
Akpabio said projects like the Gomani–Dafa–Yangoji Road would encourage people to remain in their communities, create jobs and strengthen public confidence in government.
