African runners dominate Barcelona Half Marathon

Kenya’s Eric Kiptanui and Roza Dereje of Ethiopia raced to victories at the eDreams Mitja Marato Barcelona Half Marathon title on Sunday.

Kiptanui took top spot in the men’s race in a time of 1:01:44 secs, beating the Ethiopian pair of Abebe Degefa and Betesfa Getahun to second and third positions respectively.

Dereje led the women with a time of 1:06:01 secs, as compatriot Dibaba Kuma and Kenya’s Sally Chepyegon finished in the top three.

The event which is an IAAF Gold Label road race boosted some of the world’s leading half marathon runners.
