Premier League clubs shattered the single-window spending record on deadline day, driving total transfer fees past £3.1 billion ($4.2 billion).
Manchester City led the late spree by securing Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez for a British record-equalling £125 million fee to reunite him with manager Enzo Maresca.
City also strengthened their attack by signing Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye for £65 million, while Chelsea’s attempt to replace Fernandez collapsed when Monaco pulled out of a deal for Lamine Camara.
Activity surged across the rest of the league as clubs completed late deals before the window closed.
Liverpool secured French forward Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain for £123 million, though failed bids for other targets kept Cody Gakpo at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Barcelona signed striker Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, prompting Aston Villa to spend £47 million on PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye and £29 million on Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
In other major moves, Tottenham acquired Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on loan alongside defender Tosin Adarabioyo, while Jack Grealish rejoined Everton on a loan deal.
Newcastle United rebuilt their squad by signing Belgian forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille for £51 million and sending Nicolas Woltemade on loan to Juventus.
Chelsea also secured 18-year-old Italian defender Honest Ahanor from Atalanta for £40 million, loaning him to Crystal Palace for the season.
