Iran halted retaliatory strikes across the Middle East on Sunday after US President Donald Trump paused two consecutive nights of American bombardments to allow space for diplomatic talks.

Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia confirmed Tehran suspended operations in response to Washington’s pause, while US UN Ambassador Mike Waltz stated that although Trump is providing room for negotiations, American forces remain fully prepared to resume military action if necessary.

The temporary cease in hostilities brings immediate relief to Gulf shipping routes and global energy markets following 13 consecutive nights of escalation.

While reports suggested US munitions constraints influenced the operational shift, Waltz dismissed those claims, asserting American forces retain full operational capacity.

Meanwhile, broader regional tensions persist ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s White House visit, alongside continued Houthi strikes targeting Saudi energy infrastructure in Yemen.
