The Osun State Government has warned political actors and other stakeholders against actions that could disrupt peace in the state, saying the focus should now shift to post-election reconciliation and healing.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the government expressed concern over reports of plans to trigger violence across local government areas and motor parks.
The government said it had noted the “immediate post-election disruptions” in some parts of the state and urged residents to support the restoration of peaceful coexistence and rule-based interactions.
It also offered condolences to victims of pre-election violence, calling for healing and an end to further conflict.
“The government is particularly disturbed by reports of plans by some stakeholders to ignite fresh rounds of crisis across local government councils and motor parks across the state,” the statement said.

“This plan, if true, should stop immediately in the interest of public peace. Osun needs peace for development, not violence in politics.”
The government said the governorship election had been concluded, stressing that “The Osun election has been won and lost.”
It added that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke had “engaged on a peaceful way forward,” warning that any attempt to promote violence would undermine the process.
“Any push towards violence represents an affront on the Presidency and the Nigerian constitution,” Alimi said.
The Osun State Governemnt also called on security agencies to restore the rule of law, including by ensuring the release of political detainees and ending what it described as “perceived partisan policing” in local government and motor park management.
The government urged political actors to moderate their actions and rhetoric.
“Osun should be in a period of healing and building. We must not allow a relapse into the pre-election era of killings and violence,” it said.
The statement comes a week after Adeleke was reelected as the state governor on the Accord Party platform.
